Platja d'Aro forms a part of Castell d'aro. A large modern resort with highrise buildings.

Platja d'Aro has a large selection of shops for all tastes, bowling alleys and cinemas. There is a port at one end beside the Ridaura river.

The long sandy beach (3 klms) runs along the entire town and to the north some smaller sandy coves can be found.

There are a number of hotels and good class camping sites in this area. Nightlife is a main factor in this town with numerous bars and discos.
