Rosas itself has a brilliant situation beneath ruined
medieval fortress walls at the head of the large bay.
It's a site that has been inhabited for years and
the greeks called it Rhoda.
The castle the extensive ruined citadel and surviving
sections of the city wall are all visible.
Rosas is an important holiday resort and very popular especially
with the French market. There are 4 kilometres of beach
and a popular water sports industry.
The Gulf of Rosas runs from L'Escala to Rosas and is backed
by flat land. Midway up the bay is one of Spain's most
accessible nature reserves The National Park of Aiguamolls.
